Dealers on 47th Street don't always agree on what it takes to get ahead. Manhattan's Diamond District can be a fiercely competitive place. But the businesses that survive and prosper here for decades are usually run by smart people with a reputation for being reliable and fair.

Fima Kandinov maintains straight shooting is the key to survival in the Diamond District. “Honesty and integrity are the keys to any business,” Kandinov says, and business conducted on 47th Street is no exception.

Many dealers on 47th Street take a somewhat more cutthroat approach. But Kandinov, primary appraiser and founder of Luriya, is not the only one to reach this conclusion.

AARYAH trunk show at Dreams On Air

Dreams On Air is a prime retail space and showroom in SoHo that features emerging and established artists fashion and accessories. Designer, Megan Kothari’s brand AARYAH is the newest collection showcased at Dreams On Air. AARYAH is a contemporary jewelry brand that takes inspiration from tribal traditions. AARYAH is a Sanskrit word that translates to "Precious and rare." The word inspired the birth of AARYAH. Each piece of handmade tribal jewelry is created especially for confident trend-setting risk takers. Each piece of jewelry is handcrafted by Indian artisans who use rigorous techniques to combine contemporary designs with traditional Indian style. “I want to be known for making traditional tribal jewelry wearable and relatable while promoting traditional artistry,” said Megan in an interview with the emerging designer.

They hold events in New York, Las Vegas, and Japan. Their events cover fashion for men, women, children, accessories, and footwear. UMB Fashion is a number one fashion influencer, bringing together brands from all over the world. This month’s show included women’s fashion and accessories. It featured over one hundred designers, including some of this year's must-have trends.

The 2017 Whitney Biennial x Tiffany & Company Collaboration

This year,  Tiffany & Company  teamed up with The Whitney for their Biennial art showcase to create a collection of a lifetime. Christopher Y. Lewis and Mia Locks are co-curators for the 2017 Whitney Biennial. They selected five artists to create a limited series in collaboration with Tiffany & Co. Many of the pieces displayed were inspired by past works featured by Tiffany and other artists. Harold Mendez, Ajay Kurian, Raul de Nives, Carrie Moyer, and Sarah Hughes collaborated with Tiffany artisans to create their stunning works. Each display case was centered at the entrance of the fourth floor of Tiffany’s Fifth Avenue flagship store. Tiffany’s flagship store has continuously been a destination for shoppers who are looking for high class jewelry, engagement rings, watches, and a wide variety of accessories. From the beginning, Tiffany & Co goods embodied three distinct characteristics, according to Tiffany & Co archivist Annamarie V. Sandecki: “Inspiration from either nature or the art of other cultures, innovative technique, and a reliance on unusual gemstones and metals," says Sandecki. These notable attributes are the reason Tiffany jewelry and accessories forever hold their value, making them family heirlooms, timeless pieces, and by all meanings of the word, classic. Additionally, it has become attractive for jewelry collectors to sell their Tiffany jewelry or diamonds
